Geneva

Cosmopolitan, charming, intellectual – home to the UN and the International Red Cross. Genève can call itself the smallest metropolis of the world with good reason. Here, politics of the East and West, the North and South meet for dialogue.
Genève plays a central role in world peace. Genève's role as peacemaker must be understood within the context of the city’s historical importance. For more than four centuries Genève has been an independent city and republic. Thanks to the humanitarian tradition of the city to take up people who think differently, the politically pursued have found refuge here. A centre for peace and liberty devel- oped out of this tradition. In no other city in Switzerland have so many great masterminds lived than here. Calvin, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Voltaire, Henry Dunant and many others.

This unique francophone European Championship venue also offers everything that makes a city worth living: a beautiful Old Town with small, narrow alley ways, a mighty cathedral, gardens and parks for recreation and above all the lake, that offers a phenomenal view of the mountains of Savoyen. The UEFA is located in the nearby Nyon, the organizer of this European Football Championship. Genève is the mecca of the exclusive watch-and-clock industry, and the countless fashion boutiques make shopping a delight. Genève is a financial centre and cultural city par excellence. Famous for its hospitality, the city also boasts a distinguished hotel tradition. The offer of top restaurants in both density and quality is world class.
