At the Swiss level and alpine region, Agroscope is the motor in the field of agricultural research for sustainable management in the sectors of agriculture, farm-produce and the environment.
Agroscope develops the scientific and technical foundations essential for decision-making in the fields of agricultural and environmental policy as well as the application of legislation. It acts in a practical manner and centres on early detection of problems which require, in the medium and long term, action at both the political and agricultural level. Agroscope develops, evaluates and adapts the measures of agricultural and environmental policy as well as the protection of animals.
Agroscope collaborates ever more closely with the Swiss National Stud Farm, which on its side commits itself to competitive and respectful care and breeding of horses.

Agroscope is an organization composed of three federal research stations ACW, ALP and ART which are part of the Federal Office of Agriculture.
