In detail: 25 Nobel Prize Winners were Swiss citizens when they received the Prize. 2 others got Swiss citizenship some years afterwards. For 1 his father gave back Swiss citizenship when he was 17 years old.
Another 11 foreign scholars have finished their studies or teached at the ETH (Federal Institute of Technology) or at the University of Zurich, and 7 foreign professors teached at Geneva and Basel. In addition 47 other foreign scholars have visited Switzerland, mostly for one to three years, for studying or research, e. g. 16 at the CERN, Geneva, 9 at the University of Geneva, 9 at the University of Zurich, 9 at the ETH, Zurich, 4 at the Biozentrum Basel and 3 at the IBM Research Laboratory in Rüschlikon.
