Louis Chevrolet.  He was born in La Chaux-de-Fonds, canton Neuenburg, in 1878.   Chevrolet was a racing car driver and founder of the Chevrolet Motor Car Company, which today belongs to the General Motors Company. Chevrolet moved to New York and settled there in 1901. He developed a motor of his own in 1909 when working for the Buick Motor Company. Shortly afterwards, he became William Durant’s partner and founded the Chevrolet Motor Car Company in Detroit. He died in 1941.
